Ramban, Feb 11: One person died and three others were injured when an e-auto rickshaw (JK19A-7315) skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge near Nachlana Army camp around 3 PM on Monday.
The vehicle was en route from Khari to Nachlana. Local residents and Indian Army personnel from the nearby Nachlana camp swiftly launched a rescue operation.
The victims included Ghulam Hassan (65), son of Lasu Sohil from Chaknarwah, who succumbed to injuries at Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag; his wife Fatima Begum (57), with multiple injuries and fractures; Mohd Akram (32), son of Abdul Hamid from Sila Gandote, with severe head injuries; and eight-year-old Hadaya Jaan, daughter of Nazir Ahmed, with minor injuries.
Army troops provided immediate first aid at the camp’s MI Room before evacuating the critically injured to Sub-District Hospital Banihal. They were later referred to GMC Anantnag for advanced care.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
