Kathmandu, Apr 22: Nepal Home Minister Sudan Gurung resigned Wednesday, citing moral responsibility amid public concerns over his financial holdings, including shares, to allow a fair investigation.
In a Facebook post, Gurung stressed ethics over office: “For me, ethics hold more weight than any position, and there is no power greater than public trust.” He referenced the Gen Z push for governance, transparency, and accountability, tying it to past political sacrifices.
“To ensure a fair investigation… and prevent conflict of interest, I have resigned effective today,” he stated, urging media, citizens, and youth to embrace honesty: “If we desire change, we must stand on truth, honesty, and self-purification.”
Gurung, appointed March 26, 2026, leaves amid demands for clean public life.
