SRINAGAR MAR 19; National Conference spokesperson and Zadibal MLA Tanvir Sadiq announced Wednesday that his party will table major private member’s bills in the upcoming J&K Assembly session, including a full ban on alcohol and tobacco across the Union Territory. He also plans to introduce the Land Grant Act 2025 to restore land rights for the poor, slamming a 2022 amendment for snatching away their holdings.
“I personally feel alcohol should be banned outright—a PDP-era bill got blocked by their finance minister back then, and we’d be in a better spot today if it passed,” Sadiq shared, speaking from the heart about the social toll.
On the Middle East conflict, he warned of skyrocketing LPG and petrol prices hitting ordinary Indians, praised Iran’s grit despite slim odds, and urged New Delhi to use its ties with both sides for peace. “If India helps end this war, it’d be a massive win,” he added.
