Jammu, Feb 19: Education Minister Sakina Itoo ripped into the BJP outside the Legislative Assembly, accusing them of duping Jammu voters with unfulfilled pre-election pledges like jobs, ₹10 lakh bank deposits, and a Hindu CM.
Speaking amid row over a proposed law university, Itoo called the opposition’s demand a diversion tactic. “People aren’t fooled—they know a law school could go anywhere in J&K, like Kashmir or Anantnag. Jammu students would just travel there. Where’s the real issue?” she said.
She spotlighted BJP’s “double standards” via the Vaishno Devi College row, where 50 students’ futures hung in balance until CM Omar Abdullah intervened. “If Muslim students came to a Jammu law university, would they get the same shabby treatment?” Itoo asked, stressing J&K’s unity and demanding true equality.
Itoo also blasted the LG-controlled police for baton-charging rights-seekers, saying the administration stifles legitimate demands with force.
