Bandipora, Jun 17: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) vice president Omar Abdullah on Wednesday asserted that his party would never compromise its principles or trade its values for political power, irrespective of changing political equations in the country.
Speaking to reporters during a visit to review developmental works in Kashmir, Omar said the National Conference’s ideology and commitment to the people of Jammu and Kashmir remain non-negotiable.
Reacting to a query regarding support extended by some opposition parties, including the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Shiv Sena (UBT), to the NDA on certain issues, the Chief Minister said no political offer or arrangement could persuade the NC to abandon its core values.
“No matter what is offered to us or who chooses to support the NDA, the National Conference will not sell its morals and values,” he said.
During the visit, Omar inaugurated and reviewed several development projects worth nearly Rs 300 crore across different sectors. He said his government remains focused on fulfilling commitments made to the people and ensuring that the benefits of development reach every section of society.
The Chief Minister also met various public delegations, who highlighted issues related to roads, drinking water supply, electricity, healthcare, employment and other civic concerns. He assured them that genuine grievances would be addressed on priority and directed officials to take necessary action.
Emphasising the government’s development agenda, Omar said the ongoing projects would strengthen infrastructure and improve public services across several districts of the Union Territory.
He reiterated that governance and public welfare remain the administration’s primary priorities and that the National Conference’s political decisions would continue to be guided by its ideology and long-standing commitment to the people.
“We have our own principles and political legacy. We will continue to stand by them irrespective of changing political equations,” Omar said.
