Leh, Feb 18: The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Army’s Northern Command, Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, on Tuesday held detailed security discussions with the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, during a high-level meeting in Leh.
Lt Gen Sharma was accompanied by the General Officer Commanding of the Leh-based 14 Corps, Lt Gen Hitesh Bhalla, underscoring the operational focus of the interaction in the strategically sensitive Union Territory.
According to officials, the meeting centred on the prevailing security environment and operational preparedness along Ladakh’s frontiers. The top Army commanders briefed the Lieutenant Governor on the ground situation and measures in place to safeguard the borders and maintain stability in the region.
The Lieutenant Governor commended the Army’s steadfast role in defending the frontiers and ensuring the safety of residents across Ladakh’s challenging terrain. He noted the close coordination between the civil administration and the armed forces in addressing security-related concerns.
Reaffirming the Army’s resolve, Lt Gen Sharma assured that Northern Command remains fully committed to preserving peace, maintaining operational readiness, and upholding the territorial integrity of the Union Territory. The 14 Corps, headquartered in Leh, continues to play a central role in securing the high-altitude sector.
The meeting reflected continued synergy between the Army leadership and the Union Territory administration as Ladakh remains under close security watch.
