Palghar, April 3: A Mumbai autorickshaw driver has been booked for allegedly lifting a 4‑year‑old boy by his legs and smashing his head multiple times on the ground during a scuffle with the child’s father in Palghar district, police said.
The incident followed a dispute over a minor issue near a residential area, after which the auto‑driver turned on the child and attacked him violently, causing grievous head injuries. The boy has been admitted to hospital in critical condition.
The accused has been arrested under relevant sections, including those relating to causing grievous hurt and offences against children, while the police have launched a detailed probe into the circumstances leading to the assault.
