SHOPIAN, FEB 27: The historic Mughal Road reopened to traffic today after days of closure due to heavy snowfall. Light motor vehicles are now moving smoothly along the route connecting Shopian in south Kashmir to Poonch in Jammu.
Officials said road clearance teams tackled snow buildup at key spots in the Pir Panjal range, making the stretch safe again. After a final check, authorities gave the green light for LMVs.
Traffic is flowing without hitches so far, with no major jams reported. The road acts as a vital alternate link between the Kashmir Valley and Jammu division, but it often shuts down in winter because of snow at high passes like Peer Ki Gali.
Commuters are urged to check traffic updates and drive carefully on the hilly route.
