SRINAGAR, May 31: PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday said the law and order situation in West Bengal has deteriorated after the BJP’s recent Assembly election victory, calling it “appalling.”
In a post on X, Mufti alleged that neutral institutions like the police were being “weaponised” and accused them of turning a blind eye to “assaults on political opponents,” including TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee.
Reacting to a reported attack on Banerjee by a crowd, the former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister said the situation was not the change people of West Bengal had voted for.
“Is this the change people of West Bengal voted for? Certainly not,” she said.
