New Delhi, Mar 28: Chennai Super Kings legend MS Dhoni will skip the first two weeks of IPL 2026 owing to a calf strain, the franchise announced Saturday.
“MS Dhoni is undergoing rehabilitation for a calf strain and is likely to miss the opening two weeks of TATA IPL 2026,” CSK stated.
The 44-year-old, who retired from international cricket in 2020, remains CSK’s de facto leader despite captain Ruturaj Gaikwad at the helm. Dhoni has been with the side since 2008 (except their suspension period), playing 14 matches last season as a lower-order finisher amid recurring knee issues post-2023 surgery.
Maintaining fitness is challenging with IPL-only play, fueling annual speculation about his future. CSK kicks off against Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati on March 30.
