New Delhi, Jan 7: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephonic conversation with his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday, during which the two leaders discussed comprehensive measures to further strengthen the India-Israel strategic partnership across multiple domains.

In a post shared on the social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi revealed that the discussion also included a mutual reaffirmation of both nations’ shared commitment and resolve to combat terrorism with enhanced determination and coordinated efforts.

“Glad to speak with my friend, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and convey New Year greetings to him and the people of Israel,” PM Modi wrote in his post, highlighting the personal rapport and warm bilateral ties between the two leaders.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the conversation focused extensively on identifying and exploring new avenues to deepen the India-Israel Strategic Partnership in the coming year. “We discussed ways to further strengthen the India-Israel Strategic Partnership in the year ahead,” Modi stated in his message.

The India-Israel relationship has evolved significantly over the past several years, encompassing cooperation in defense, agriculture, technology, water management, cybersecurity, and counter-terrorism. Both nations have maintained robust defense ties, with Israel being one of India’s major defense equipment suppliers.

A significant highlight of the conversation was the joint commitment by both leaders to intensify their efforts against terrorism. The shared resolve to fight terror reflects the common challenges both countries face from extremist threats and their determination to work collaboratively on security matters.

India and Israel have been strengthening their counter-terrorism cooperation through intelligence sharing, joint training exercises, and technology transfers, particularly in areas related to border security, surveillance systems, and homeland security infrastructure.

Prime Minister Modi also disclosed that the two leaders exchanged comprehensive views on the prevailing regional situation, though specific details of these discussions were not immediately disclosed. The exchange of perspectives on regional developments indicates the broader geopolitical dimensions of the India-Israel relationship.

The conversation comes at a time when both regions—South Asia and West Asia—are witnessing significant security and diplomatic developments that impact the interests of both nations.

The discussion between the two leaders underscores the continued high-level engagement and the priority both governments place on maintaining and expanding their strategic relationship, which has been characterized by increasing defense cooperation, technological collaboration, and shared security interests.
