NEW DELHI, Dec 5: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed strong optimism Friday that India and Russia will surpass their ambitious USD 100 billion bilateral trade target well ahead of the 2030 deadline set last year with President Vladimir Putin.

Addressing the India-Russia Business Forum alongside Putin, Modi urged Russian companies to “come and Make in India” and forge strategic partnerships. He highlighted rapid progress fueled by mutual trust—the bedrock of their diplomacy and commerce—while announcing simplified business mechanisms and initial talks on an FTA with the Eurasian Economic Union.
EV Synergy for Global South
Modi spotlighted complementary strengths: India’s leadership in affordable EVs, two-wheelers, and CNG solutions pairing with Russia’s advanced materials expertise. “Joint ventures in EV manufacturing, auto components, and shared mobility can meet domestic needs and uplift the Global South,” he envisioned. Putin echoed commitment to deepening ties across sectors, with Russian firms eager to boost Indian imports.
