Khaltse, Feb 21: In a focused outreach effort to extend healthcare access to remote areas, the Block Medical Officer, Khaltse, Dr. Shamim Ahmed, organised a Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) camp at Village Ang on Friday.
The camp was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Shamim Ahmed with the objective of providing specialised medical services to residents of the far-flung village. A team of doctors was deputed to ensure comprehensive care across multiple disciplines.
The medical team included Dr. Stanzin Yangdol, Physician; Dr. Ashish Vaishnav, Medical Officer; Dr. Shaista Iqbal, Dental Surgeon; and Dr. Stanzin Lazes, Medical Officer (Amchi).
A total of 85 patients received treatment during the camp. According to official details, 34 patients underwent physician consultations, while 18 were attended to under general medical consultations. Dental services were provided to 17 patients, and 12 individuals availed Amchi consultations.
Besides routine treatment, the camp also focused on preventive healthcare. Screening for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) was carried out for all eligible attendees, with emphasis on early detection of diabetes and hypertension.
Health officials stated that the outreach initiative ensured access to medical care for residents who otherwise face challenges in reaching healthcare facilities due to geographical constraints.
The camp concluded with the successful delivery of essential medical services, offering relief to the people of Village Ang and reinforcing the department’s continued efforts to strengthen rural healthcare outreach in Khaltse block.
