Khaltse: The Block Medical Office, Khaltse, on Thursday organised a Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) camp at Tia Village to extend healthcare services to residents of the remote settlement and surrounding hamlets.
The camp was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Shamim Ahmed, Block Medical Officer, Khaltse. A team of doctors and paramedical staff delivered on-site medical services during the outreach programme.
The medical team comprised Dr. Stanzin Yangdol, Physician; Dr. Stanzin Phunchok, Medical Officer; and Dr. Shaista Iqbal, Dental Surgeon, supported by concerned paramedical personnel.
During the camp, residents received general physician consultations, screening for non-communicable diseases including diabetes and hypertension, dental consultations and tooth extractions. Laboratory investigations were also carried out at the site.
Health officials said that 85 patients from Tia village and nearby areas were examined and treated during the day-long camp.
The outreach initiative was organised to strengthen access to primary and specialised healthcare services in remote areas and to encourage early detection of chronic diseases through preventive screening
