Leh, Jul 31: As part of the ongoing “Mission Indus River Cleanup” initiative spearheaded by LAHDC Leh, Nasreen Maryan, President of Anjuman-e-Imamia Women’s Wing, Leh, has once again appealed to the public to join hands in protecting the sacred Indus.
She highlighted that the Women’s Wing has been actively participating in this mission every year since 2017, and particularly around Muharram, by cleaning stretches of 7 to 8 kilometers along the river.
“This is not the responsibility of just one or two individuals,” she emphasized. “It is a collective duty. Every citizen must rise to the occasion and play their part in safeguarding the lifeline of Ladakh.”
The other day, as part of the ongoing, President of Anjuman Moin-ul-Islam (Women’s Wing), Ayesha Malo, joined the collective effort with a heartfelt appeal to the public.
“The Indus connects us all, it’s more than just a river, it’s a symbol of peace and unity,” said Ayesha Malo. “People from across the world come to see it, and it holds deep spiritual and emotional value for us. Let’s come together to protect it.”
Prior to that, Kunzes Dolma, VP LBA and Vice Chairperson of the Sustainable Development Forum of Ladakh, called on the public to join hands in protecting the Indus River!!
She described the Indus as our lifeline, a sacred river that has supported generations of farmers and sustained life across Ladakh.
Emphasising the urgent need to care for it, she urged everyone to come together, take ownership, and set an example by keeping it clean for future generations.
