Leh, Sept 28: In a solemn assembly at the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC) today, the local community came together to honor the memory of four individuals who lost their lives in recent unrest that shook the town. The Main Shrine Hall of MIMC bore witness to a special condolence prayer led by Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena, attended by Sangha members, staff, and students, who offered their thoughts and prayers for those affected.
The prayer specifically remembered Mr. Tsewang Tharchin from Skurbuchan, Mr. Jigmet Dorjay from Kharnak, Mr. Stanzin Namgyal from Igoo, and Mr. Rinchen Dorjey from Hanu, whose lives were tragically cut short. Prayers were also offered for the recovery of those injured or traumatized by the violence that disrupted the normally peaceful region.
Speaking at the gathering, Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena expressed his profound grief over the recent events, describing the outbreak of violence as a deep scar on the peaceful soil of Ladakh. He extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and emphasized the collective sense of loss felt by the entire community.
The ceremony emphasized compassion and reconciliation, with prayers encompassing not only the victims but also protestors, civilians, and law enforcement personnel impacted by the unrest. The MIMC Devachan family expressed hope that the merit of the departed, combined with the prayers of those gathered, may guide the souls of the deceased towards peace and Nibbana.
As Leh grapples with the aftermath of the violence, the gathering at MIMC underscored the community’s shared mourning and commitment to healing in the face of tragedy.
