Leh, Apr 03: Weather conditions across Ladakh remained largely overcast on Friday, with the Meteorological Centre Leh indicating continued cloud cover and intermittent precipitation in the region over the coming days.
According to the latest update issued at 11:30 AM, most parts of Ladakh are experiencing generally cloudy skies. The forecast for the day points to light rain or snowfall at scattered locations along the Kargil–Zanskar region, particularly across the Zojila–Drass axis, from the afternoon onwards.
The outlook for April 4 suggests a spell of moderate rain or snowfall over the Zojila–Drass corridor and the Sankoo–Rangdum belt. Higher reaches, including peaks and mountain passes in Leh district, are also expected to receive precipitation during this period.
Weather conditions are projected to improve slightly on April 5 and 6, with partly cloudy skies accompanied by gusty winds. However, cloud cover is expected to increase again between April 7 and 8, with the possibility of rain or snowfall returning to the Zojila–Drass axis, while the rest of Ladakh is likely to remain generally cloudy.
No formal weather warning has been issued. Nevertheless, the Meteorological Centre has advised caution, noting that fresh precipitation may increase the likelihood of avalanches in vulnerable areas such as Zojila and Shinkula. Travelers and residents have been urged to remain alert, particularly in high-altitude stretches.
Authorities have also indicated a moderate possibility of temporary closure of the Zojila Pass between April 4 and 5, depending on weather intensity. Air travel disruptions are considered unlikely, with only a low probability of flight cancellations.
Residents, transport operators, and visitors have been advised to monitor regular updates on road and weather conditions to ensure safety and avoid inconvenience.
