NEW DELHI, March 9: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti visited the Iranian Cultural Centre and Embassy in Delhi to offer her deepest condolences to the people of Iran during these challenging times, paying solemn tributes to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on his martyrdom.
In a heartfelt gesture amid escalating West Asia tensions—including Israeli strikes on Tehran and Iran’s reported attacks on UAE and Bahrain—Mehbooba raised the pressing issue of Kashmiri students stranded in Iran with the Hon’ble Ambassador, seeking urgent support for their safe return.
The PDP leader’s visit aligns with ongoing efforts to evacuate students from the conflict zone in phases, as confirmed earlier by Foreign Secretary Misri to JKSA. It reflects broader regional solidarity following the naming of Khamenei’s son Mojtaba as Iran’s new Supreme Leader.
Kashmiri families have expressed gratitude for Mehbooba’s intervention, hoping it accelerates the repatriation process. This comes as India continues advocating for peace and dialogue in West Asia, per EAM’s recent statement, while J&K resumes normalcy with schools reopening in the Valley.
