Jammu, Aug 1 : Police on Saturday arrested an alleged criminal in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district and recovered an illegal revolver from his possession, an official said.

Munna Singh, a resident of Sohal village in Akhnoor who is currently living in Samba, was heading towards Kikri Morh from Data Talab when a police patrolling party spotted him moving under suspicious circumstances near JDA Colony in the Bari Brahmana area, a police spokesperson said.

On noticing the police team, Singh allegedly attempted to flee but was chased and apprehended by the personnel, the spokesperson said.

During his personal search, police recovered a revolver from his possession. He failed to produce any valid licence or legal authorisation for carrying the firearm, the spokesperson added.
