KARGIL: The Maj BS Randhawa, MVC Archery Tournament, organised as part of the 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas 2026 commemorations, concluded in Kargil following a series of closely contested final matches held on June 10.
The tournament drew widespread participation, with 20 men’s teams and five women’s teams competing in the event, reflecting the continued popularity of archery and traditional sports across the region.
Participants displayed impressive skill, discipline and sportsmanship throughout the competition, while the event attracted enthusiastic support from local residents, youth and sports enthusiasts.
The tournament served as a tribute to the courage and sacrifice of Maj BS Randhawa, MVC, whose service and legacy continue to inspire generations. Organisers noted that the event formed an important part of the ongoing Kargil Vijay Diwas commemorations, which honour the heroes of the 1999 Kargil conflict.
Beyond competition, the championship provided a platform for promoting traditional archery, encouraging youth participation and strengthening community engagement through sport.
