Leh, Apr 7: More than 50 students and teachers from Mahabodhi School visited the Hall of Fame in Leh on Monday as part of the Indian Army’s outreach under the “Know Your Army” programme, aimed at familiarising young learners with the legacy and functioning of the Armed Forces.
The visit, organised by the Indian Army, included a guided tour of the Hall of Fame and the adjoining equipment display area, where participants were briefed on the evolution of the Army and its operational role in securing the country’s high-altitude frontiers, particularly in Ladakh.
At the museum, students were taken through galleries housing war memorabilia, archival records of major military operations, and documented accounts of soldiers who served in extreme terrain. Army personnel explained the strategic importance of the region and the challenges faced by troops deployed in harsh climatic conditions.
The group also visited the equipment display section, where a range of military hardware was showcased. Students interacted with Army personnel and were introduced to aspects of military life, including discipline, training, and service conditions in forward areas.
Teachers accompanying the students said the exposure would contribute to a better understanding of national security and civic responsibility among the youth. They observed that such initiatives provide a structured platform for students to engage with institutions beyond the classroom.
Officials said the programme is part of continued efforts to build awareness among younger generations about the Armed Forces and their role in safeguarding territorial integrity.
The visit concluded with students expressing appreciation for the Armed Forces and their deployment in Ladakh’s demanding environment, reflecting the intended outreach of the initiative.
