Udhampur, March 25: The Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Ramnagar has ordered a magisterial enquiry into the February 3 encounter in Lehar village of the Joffer area, where two Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants, reportedly from Pakistan/PoJK, were killed during a search operation by security forces.
According to officials, the enquiry has been initiated as part of the legal and procedural process following the anti-terror operation.
An FIR, numbered 14/2026, has been registered under relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Arms Act, and Explosive Substances Act.
Authorities have also appealed to the general public to come forward with any information, evidence, or facts related to the encounter. Citizens have been asked to submit their statements or material evidence before March 31.
Officials assured that the identity of informants and those sharing information would be kept strictly confidential.
