Lt Governor Gupta assures transparent governance, sustainable growth in Ladakh

Meets Delegations; Commits to Tourism, Culture & Jobs in UT

Jammu, Jul 31: Expressing deep gratitude for the warm support from Ladakh’s people, Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta on Thursday reaffirmed his dedication to ensure transparent and accountable governance, besides sustainable growth and cultural pride for the cold desert.

He highlighted the honour and responsibility of serving Ladakh, a region of strategic importance with rich cultural and natural heritage.

Gupta promised a people-centric approach, focusing on inclusive and sustainable development to ensure every citizen benefit from effective governance.

Gupta said, “It is a matter of immense pride and responsibility to serve the people of Ladakh, a land that is strategically important and blessed with a unique cultural and natural heritage.”

Assuring his administration will focus on people-centric, inclusive, and sustainable development, LG said, “Every citizen of Ladakh feels the positive impact of governance.”

His administration will prioritize robust infrastructure, enhanced connectivity, and the promotion of tourism and cultural heritage to establish Ladakh as a global destination.

Additionally, he committed to creating youth employment opportunities and preserving the region’s delicate environment while fostering sustainable growth.

The LG Thursday met with dozens of delegations and deputations who called on him to extend their heartfelt congratulations on his appointment as the Lt Governor of the Union Territory.

Throughout the day, a series of meetings with representatives from various sections of society, including social organizations, traders’ associations, religious leaders, youth forums, and eminent citizens, all expressing their confidence in his leadership and commitment to public service.

The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm and optimism as the delegations warmly felicitated Kavinder Gupta, lauding his long-standing dedication to the welfare of the people and expressing hope that his tenure would mark a new era of progress and prosperity for Ladakh.

Meanwhile, a delegation of the Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch (BTSM) from Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh Union Territories met LG at the Circuit House.

The meeting was held to extend warm congratulations to the LG on assuming office and to brief him about the ongoing activities and initiatives of the organization across both Union Territories.

The delegation was led by Dr Vivek Sharma, President of BTSM J&K and Ladakh UT, who highlighted the organization’s efforts in promoting Indo-Tibetan cultural ties, raising awareness on Tibetan freedom, and spreading the message of peace and solidarity as envisioned by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Prominent members of the delegation included Rajinder Sadotra (General Secretary, J&K UT), Dr. Judvir Singh, Dr. Vikrant Singh, Dr. Mukesh Sharma, Ms. Kamini Chopra, Vishal Sharma, Dr. Charanjeet Singh, and others.

They also discussed future collaboration opportunities and the possibility of expanding BTSM activities in the Ladakh region, especially among youth and educational institutions.

The LG appreciated the delegation’s visit and expressed support for initiatives aimed at cultural preservation and strengthening people-to-people ties between India and Tibet.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to continue working for the cause of Tibet and promoting peace and harmony in the Himalayan region.

The other day, the LG paid obeisance at the revered Shree Panch Mukhi Hanuman Mandir located on B.C. Road, Jammu.

The Lt Governor appreciated the efforts of the temple committee and JYBT members for their commendable service, particularly highlighting their initiative of providing free meals to attendants of patients admitted in five nearby government hospitals.

He said such acts of compassion and service embody the true spirit of ‘seva’ and strengthen the social fabric of the region.

On the occasion, the Lt Governor along with Pawan Kumar Shastri, President, Jammu Yatri Bhawan Trust (JYBT) Jammu, Haridwar; Gurdas Sharma, General Secretary, JYBT; Raj Kumar, Trustee, JYBT; Leela Kiran, Trustee, JYBT; Koshal Kumar, Trustee, JYBT; and Sukhdev Sharma, Working Committee Member, JYBT performed special pooja and prayed for the peace, prosperity, and well-being of the people of Ladakh and the nation at large. The spiritually uplifting ceremony was marked by devotion and communal harmony.

Earlier in the day, the LG Gupta pledged to transform the Union Territory into a globally recognized destination for tourism, culture, and commerce.

He was speaking after according a warm felicitation by the Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Jammu, in a special ceremony organised to celebrate his appointment as the Lt Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh.

At the end, LG Gupta assured the traders that he will make every possible effort to strengthen the economic and social connect between Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, ensuring that both regions grow in harmony and mutual cooperation.
