Leh, Feb 12: Lieutenant General Hitesh Bhalla, General Officer Commanding of the Fire and Fury Corps, on Wednesday carried out a detailed field visit to a frontline formation to review the prevailing security situation and closely assess operational preparedness in the high-altitude theatre of Ladakh.
The visit to the Vyomari Vidhwansak Brigade focused on evaluating the operational posture of troops deployed along sensitive and challenging sectors, where harsh weather, difficult terrain and logistical constraints continue to shape day-to-day military operations.
During extensive interactions with officers and soldiers on the ground, Lt Gen Bhalla reviewed the readiness of units, deployment patterns and operational systems, and took a first-hand assessment of how formations are maintaining alertness and response capability in one of the most demanding operational environments in the region.
The Corps Commander lauded the personnel for maintaining high morale, professional standards and operational focus while performing duties under severe climatic and terrain conditions.
Addressing the troops, Lt Gen Bhalla underlined the need to continuously integrate modern technology into operational and surveillance systems to strengthen situational awareness and decision-making at the tactical level. He urged all ranks to sustain the highest levels of operational efficiency and remain prepared for rapid response at all times.
Emphasising adaptability, innovation and discipline, the GOC said these attributes remain essential for addressing evolving security challenges in sensitive border areas and for ensuring that formations remain prepared for a wide range of contingencies.
The visit reaffirmed the Corps’ operational focus on vigilance, resilience and combat readiness across the Ladakh sector. Headquartered in Leh, the Fire and Fury Corps continues to shoulder responsibility for safeguarding India’s high-altitude frontiers and sustaining round-the-clock operational readiness in some of the most testing conditions faced by the Army.
