Leh: The Department of Travel and Tourism Management at the University of Ladakh successfully concluded its first international conference, LITCON 2K26, with a formal valedictory session held here today.
The two-day conference brought together academicians, researchers, industry experts, and students from across the globe to deliberate on emerging trends, policy frameworks, and innovations in the tourism and hospitality sector.
The valedictory session, moderated by Dr. Rinchen Dolma, began with the National Song, followed by the introduction and felicitation of dignitaries. Dr. Abdullah Ali, Assistant Professor at the department, delivered the welcome address, underscoring the importance of collaborative academic platforms and expressing gratitude for the enthusiastic participation.
Presenting the conference proceedings, Dr. Mohd. Rafee, Dean, Commerce and Management, highlighted key themes, research findings, and outcomes of the technical sessions. The Best Paper Presentation Award was also announced, recognising outstanding scholarly contributions.
The session was attended by distinguished dignitaries, including Guest of Honour Prof. Yajvender Pal Verma, Registrar of Panjab University, and Chief Guest Prof. Sanjay Kaushik, Vice Chancellor of Gurugram University, who joined the session virtually and shared insights on the evolving landscape of tourism education and research.
In his special address, Prof. Saket Kushwaha, Vice Chancellor of the University of Ladakh, spoke on the impact of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on the tourism sector, highlighting its implications for pricing structures, regulatory compliance, and overall sectoral growth.
Participation certificates were distributed to attendees during the session. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Suyash Pawar, who acknowledged the contributions of all stakeholders. The event ended with the National Anthem, marking the successful culmination of LITCON 2K26.
