Leh, Aug 18: In the first major reshuffle of the civil administration after assuming charge, Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta on Monday ordered a wide-ranging transfer of officers across various departments in the Union Territory of Ladakh. The exercise, aimed at streamlining governance, involves a series of new postings and additional responsibilities. The orders, issued by the General Administration Department, have come into immediate effect.
Dr. Zahida Banoo, Special Secretary in the Health and Medical Education Department, has been appointed Secretary to the Ladakh Subordinate Services Selection Board. She will also hold the additional charge of the post, taking over from Rigzin Spalbar, while Mohammad Ashraf Bhat has been relieved of his additional responsibility.
Kunzang Angmo, Director of Tourism, has been transferred as Director of Social and Tribal Welfare, replacing Tashi Dolma. In turn, Tashi Dolma has been posted as Director of Tourism and will continue to oversee Women and Child Development. The additional charge of Women and Child Development, earlier held by Tsering Paldan, has thus been realigned.
Tsering Paldan, who previously headed the Tourism Department, has been appointed Director of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, succeeding Amit Sharma, who has been relieved of the additional charge of Additional Mission Director, Jal Jeevan Mission.
At the Secretariat, Atul Singh Markotia, Deputy Secretary, has been posted as Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Shakar Chiktan, with additional charge as Tehsildar of the subdivision. His position at the UT Secretariat will be filled by Ravi Shanker, Deputy Secretary. After availing earned leave, Markotia will resume charge as Under Secretary in the Departments of Labour & Employment, Housing & Urban Development, Tourism, Culture, and Information & Public Relations. In the meantime, his charge will be handled by Dr. Stanzin Tharchos, OSD.
Sumera Shafi, Under Secretary, has been assigned the Departments of School Education, Higher Education, and Youth Services and Sports, while continuing to look after Labour & Employment and Housing & Urban Development.
Other postings include Nitza Angmo, who will serve as Under Secretary in the Departments of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, and Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction. Sanjait Bharadwaj, Tehsildar, Shakar Chiktan, has been transferred as Under Secretary in Information Technology and Social and Tribal Welfare.
Mohit Sharma, Under Secretary, has been entrusted with the Departments of Forest, Ecology and Environment, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, and Science and Technology. Imtisal Rasool, OSD in the Department of Industries and Commerce, has been posted as Under Secretary in Animal & Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries, and Non-Renewable Energy.
Jigmet Angchuk has been placed as Under Secretary in the Ladakh Subordinate Services Selection Board, with additional charge of Labour & Employment. Abied Hussain, Assistant Director, Science and Technology, has been appointed OSD in the Departments of Technical Education and Skill Development. Asif Hussain, OSD in the Lt. Governor’s Secretariat, has been relieved of his duties there and posted in the Animal & Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Department until further orders.
The reshuffle, issued under the direction of the Lieutenant Governor, is expected to realign responsibilities across departments and strengthen administrative functioning in the Union Territory.
