Srinagar, May 7: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said on Thursday that Operation Sindoor stands as a firm message that India’s armed forces are fully committed to safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and integrity at any cost.
Marking the first anniversary of the operation, Sinha paid tribute to the armed forces, recalling that it was launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack on tourists in April last year.
In a post on X, he said, “Operation Sindoor is a declaration etched in resolve that our brave armed forces are committed to protect the country’s sovereignty and integrity at any cost. It reflects India’s strong determination, and we remain committed to dismantling terror networks and ensuring a terror-free Jammu and Kashmir.”
He also added, “As we mark the anniversary of #OperationSindoor, we honour the men and women in uniform whose courage and determination delivered a strong response to those who targeted innocent civilians in Pahalgam.”
Operation Sindoor was carried out on May 7 last year in response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack, in which 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed. The operation involved airstrikes on nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
The strikes led to a sharp escalation in tensions, with Pakistan launching retaliatory actions that were largely intercepted by Indian forces. Hostilities eventually de-escalated after both sides agreed to halt military actions on May 10 following hotline discussions between their army officials.
