Leh, Mar 25: Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Tuesday visited the Hall of Fame in Leh, where he paid homage to soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty, reaffirming the nation’s enduring respect for its armed forces.
The Lieutenant Governor laid a wreath at the war memorial and was received by General Officer Commanding, 14 Corps, Lt Gen Hitesh Bhalla. The visit was marked by solemn observance, with Saxena acknowledging the sacrifices of soldiers who served in some of the most demanding operational environments along the country’s frontiers.
Addressing officials and Army personnel, Saxena said the courage displayed by the armed forces in safeguarding the nation under extreme weather and terrain conditions remains a source of collective pride. He stressed that the sacrifices made by soldiers while defending the country must continue to be remembered with gratitude and respect.
“My heartfelt tributes to the martyrs of the armed forces who laid their lives for the freedom, pride and dignity of our nation. We, as Indians, owe a debt of gratitude to the fallen martyrs and their families. Hall of Fame, Leh, truly glorifies the supreme sacrifice of our soldiers,” he said.
During his visit, the Lieutenant Governor also toured the museum at the Hall of Fame, which documents the Indian Army’s role in critical military operations, including Operation Meghdoot and Operation Vijay. The exhibits highlight accounts of endurance, strategy, and courage in high-altitude conflict zones.
Saxena commended the Indian Army for its continued vigilance along the borders, noting that personnel remain deployed in sub-zero temperatures and difficult terrain to ensure national security. He described their service as an enduring example of dedication and commitment to duty.
The Hall of Fame, maintained by the Indian Army, stands as a tribute to soldiers who served in Ladakh and other high-altitude regions, preserving their legacy for future generations.
