JAMMU, May 20: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday presented appointment letters to newly recruited constables of the Jammu & Kashmir Police and called upon them to dedicate themselves to safeguarding the unity and integrity of the nation.
Addressing over 3,200 newly inducted constables, the LG urged them to uphold the proud legacy of the force and remain constantly alert to evolving law and order and security challenges, including terrorism.
He said the nature of security threats has changed and requires “constant, unyielding vigilance,” stressing the need for enhanced coordination between agencies and teamwork on the ground.
“When we share information, plan strategies, and confront the enemy together, we build capacities that no single institution can create alone,” Sinha said, adding that newly recruited personnel must play a frontline role in national security efforts.
The LG stated that terror networks survive on funding, logistics and support systems, and called for using the full force of law to trace and dismantle such networks completely.
He also highlighted the importance of adopting basic policing methods along with modern tools, noting that effective beat policing can significantly help in preventing crime and encroachment at the local level.
Commending the Jammu and Kashmir Police for its ongoing action against drug trafficking under the “Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir” campaign, he said efforts are being intensified to choke drug supply routes and ensure strict action against offenders.
“I am confident that the actions in the coming days will be stringent and will yield major successes,” he said.
Senior officials of the civil and police administration, including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo and DGP J&K Nalin Prabhat, along with families of the recruits, attended the ceremony.
