TULMULLA, Jammu and Kashmir, Jun 22 — Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid obeisance at the Kheer Bhawani temple in Ganderbal district Monday and prayed for peace and prosperity in the Union Territory.
Sinha offered prayers at the Ragnya Devi shrine in central Kashmir as hundreds of Kashmiri Pandits gathered for the annual mela amid tight security arrangements.
The lieutenant governor reviewed arrangements made for devotees. Speaking to reporters, he said it was a matter of satisfaction that pilgrim turnout was higher this year compared with the last few years.”We pray to Mata Kheer Bhawani for continued peace and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said. Sinha added that the administration made proper arrangements for devotees and prayed that Mata’s blessings continue upon the people.
The mela is held each year on Jyeshta Ashtami.
