Baramulla, Jul 19: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday attended the Mahayajna Dharma Sammelan in Baramulla, where he highlighted the values of selfless service, harmony, peace and collective responsibility embedded in the Sanatan tradition.

Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor said the event represented a spiritual revival for the region and carried a message of national unity and communal harmony from Baramulla to the entire country.

“Baramulla has for centuries remained a gateway of culture, a confluence of ideas and a centre of spiritual knowledge. Through this Mahayajna Dharma Sammelan, we are reviving the glorious heritage of this historic land,” Sinha said.

He said the teachings of ancient sages, including the message of “Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu” (may all beings everywhere be happy and healthy), reflect India’s inclusive and compassionate civilisational values.

The LG emphasised that India’s spiritual traditions teach respect for all faiths and encourage people to rise above distinctions of language, region, caste and customs.

“This Mahayajna is a living expression of India’s true identity — unity in diversity. In today’s rapidly changing world, we must strengthen values of brotherhood, patience, compassion and selfless love among the younger generation,” he said.

Sinha also stressed the need for environmental conservation, recalling that Indian traditions have always respected nature, rivers, forests and the Earth as sacred.

He called for preserving Jammu and Kashmir’s rich cultural heritage, including languages, literature, arts and traditions, and urged the youth to carry forward the wisdom of their ancestors.

“The youth must lead the world through innovation and ideas while ensuring that modernity and spirituality move together,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

The event was attended by senior officials, including Principal Secretary Culture Brij Mohan Sharma, DIG North Kashmir Range Dr Vinod Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Syeed Fakhrudin Hamid, SSP Baramulla Gurinderpal Singh, religious leaders, civil society members and a large number of citizens.
