Leh, Sept 21: Hill Council Leh will continue to extend its support for initiatives that bring tangible relief to the people, Chairman, CEC, LAHDC Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson stated on Saturday while inaugurating a fully charitable Patient Attendant Facility, established by the Tip Top Sports and Cultural Welfare Society in Leh.
The facility has been dedicated to support patients and their attendants, particularly those who arrive at SNM Hospital from distant regions in search of medical care.
The new facility was formally inaugurated by the CEC in the presence of Executive Councillor for Agriculture, Stanzin Chosphel; Nominated Councillor, Phuntsog Norboo; President of Tip Top Society, Tsewang Namgail.
Following the inaugural ceremony, the CEC, along with officials and dignitaries, inspected the newly constructed facility in detail. They reviewed the availability of beds, kitchen facilities, and overall infrastructure designed to provide comfort to attendants accompanying patients.
The inspection was followed by an interaction with the members of the Society who briefed about the initiative.
Addressing the gathering, the CEC, Advocate Tashi Gyalson, extended his heartfelt congratulations to Tip Top Society and its executive members for their philanthropic initiative.
He said, “This Patient Attendant Facility is a noble gesture that reflects the true spirit of service and compassion in our society. It will ease the hardship of those coming from far-flung villages who often struggle for a place to stay while their loved ones undergo treatment at SNM Hospital. I appreciate Tip Top Society for thinking about the poorest and most vulnerable sections of Ladakh and for working with dedication towards community welfare. The Hill Council will continue to extend its support for such initiatives that bring tangible relief to the people.”
EC for Agriculture, Stanzin Chosphel, also congratulated the Society, stating, “The efforts of Tip Top Society in setting up this charitable facility are truly commendable. This is not just a building but a support system for families during some of their most difficult times. I deeply appreciate the dedication and hard work of the members who have come together with selfless intentions for the welfare of society.”
Speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble Nominated Councillor, Phuntsog Norboo, remarked, “The importance of this facility cannot be overstated. It is a much-needed addition for our people, especially those from rural and remote areas. I extend my gratitude to Tip Top Society for their vision and commitment, and I hope this becomes a model for more such initiatives across Ladakh.”
Medical Superintendent SNM Hospital, Dr. Rinchen Chondol, expressed gratitude to Tip Top Society on behalf of the hospital administration. She said, “For a long time, patients and their attendants have faced challenges in finding accommodation during treatment. This facility will directly benefit them and also help us, as hospital authorities, in ensuring a more humane and compassionate healthcare environment. I sincerely thank Tip Top Society for this generous step, which will complement our efforts to serve the people of Ladakh better.”
President of Tip Top Society, Tsewang Namgail, gave a detailed account of the Society’s activities and the vision behind the initiative. He stated, “Our goal has always been to give back to society in whatever way possible. This project was conceived to provide dignity, relief, and care to families who come to Leh for medical treatment. We are grateful to the Hon’ble CEC, the Hill Council, officials, and all well-wishers whose encouragement and blessings have made this project possible. This facility is fully charitable and will always remain dedicated to the service of people in need.”
The programme concluded with words of appreciation from the guests, a vote of thanks by the organisers, and high tea.
