KARGIL: Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, IAS, on Friday flagged off Ladakh’s Under-17 boys’ and girls’ taekwondo contingent for the 69th School Games Federation of India (SGFI) Taekwondo Championship 2025. The national event is scheduled to begin on November 25 at the Khelo India Indoor Stadium in Naharlagun, Arunachal Pradesh.
During the send-off ceremony, the Deputy Commissioner extended his best wishes to the young sportspersons and presented traditional Khataks as a gesture of encouragement and goodwill.
Senior officials present on the occasion included Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Imteeaz Kacho (JKAS); District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kargil, Abid Ali; staff members of the DC Office; and officials of the Youth Services and Sports Department.
The Deputy Commissioner commended the athletes for their dedication and rigorous training, urging them to uphold discipline, confidence, and exemplary sportsmanship as they compete at the national level. He expressed hope that the contingent would bring laurels to the Union Territory of Ladakh.
The team will represent Ladakh against leading competitors from across the country at the upcoming championship. The contingent consists of six boys, one girl, one coach, and one manager.
