LEH: The approval and sanction of the 2nd Ladakh Battalion NCC for the University of Ladakh’s Kargil Campus has been welcomed as a major boost for student development, with campus authorities stating that the initiative will create new opportunities for youth aspiring to join the National Cadet Corps and pursue careers in uniformed services.
Congratulating the students of the Kargil Campus, Lt. Dr. Murtaza Ali described the sanction of the NCC unit as an important step towards strengthening discipline, leadership and personality development among students. He said the initiative would provide aspiring cadets with access to structured training and nationally recognised certification programmes.
Dr. Ali expressed gratitude to Lt. Sangram Singh, Commanding Officer, for his support in facilitating the approval process. He also thanked University of Ladakh Vice Chancellor Prof. Saket Kushwaha for his guidance and encouragement in securing the NCC unit for the campus.
Highlighting the benefits of NCC participation, Dr. Ali noted that NCC certification offers tangible advantages in recruitment processes. He pointed out that holders of the NCC ‘C’ Certificate were awarded additional marks in recent Ladakh Police Sub-Inspector recruitment examinations, enhancing their prospects in competitive selections and public service careers.
He further informed that the 2 BN NCC Kargil has sanctioned a permanent NCC Certificate Course for both Senior Division and Senior Wing cadets at the campus. Students enrolled in integrated and postgraduate programmes across disciplines will be eligible to apply for enrolment.
According to Dr. Ali, the introduction of the NCC programme will not only promote discipline and leadership qualities among students but also equip them with skills and experience that can prove valuable in higher education, employment and community service.
