Leh, Aug 06: In a vibrant show of environmental consciousness, the Leh Campus of the University of Ladakh turned into a hub of artistic expression on Tuesday as students took part in a poster-making event under the ongoing Mission Indus Clean-up Movement. The activity was jointly hosted by the Department of Education and the Department of Physical Education on the university premises at Taruthang.
Held in the canteen area, the event attracted wide participation from students who illustrated themes around pollution control, river conservation, and ecological preservation. The initiative falls under a larger clean-up campaign running from August 6 to 12, launched by the UT Administration and the LAHDC, Leh, with the objective of reducing contamination in the Indus River.
With the Indus revered as Ladakh’s lifeline, the campaign seeks to instill a sense of responsibility among younger generations. The posters, rich in color and content, reflected urgent environmental messages and a collective call to action, making the campaign more visible within the campus community.
Prof. Saket Kushwaha, Vice Chancellor of the University, visited the display and engaged with student artists, commending their creative approach to advocacy. His interaction served to encourage the students’ initiative and underscored the university’s support for environmentally-driven projects.
Through this student-led event, the campus contributed to the broader mission of safeguarding one of the region’s most vital natural resources, turning awareness into action through the medium of art.
