Leh, May 16: In a major boost to adventure tourism, the Union Territory Administration of Ladakh has signed a first-of-its-kind Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Royal Enfield and the Ladakh Bike Co-operative Ltd to organise “Ladakh Bike Week,” a flagship event aimed at positioning the region as the motorcycling capital of the Himalayas.
Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh announced the initiative, stating that the event goes beyond adventure tourism and is designed to promote livelihoods, local participation and sustainable development.
Under the initiative, homestays, local guides, artisans, self-help groups (SHGs) and small businesses are expected to benefit directly from increased tourist inflow and event-related activities.
The administration said that safety, professionalism and environmental responsibility will remain key priorities while hosting the event.
Officials added that the collaboration will further strengthen Ladakh’s identity as a premier global adventure tourism destination while ensuring that local communities remain central to its growth story.
The LG congratulated all stakeholders involved and invited riders and adventure enthusiasts from India and abroad to experience Ladakh’s unique blend of nature, culture, spirituality and adventure.
He also expressed confidence that “Ladakh Bike Week” would emerge as a globally recognised annual event, boosting tourism and economic opportunities in the region.
