Kargil, Apr 05: Marking the start of preparations for the forthcoming Ladakh Police recruitment, an orientation camp for Sub-Inspector and Constable aspirants commenced in Kargil, drawing an overwhelming response with over 500 candidates registering and participating on the opening day.
The camp, organised by District Police Kargil at Khree Sultan Cho Stadium under the directions of Director General of Police, Ladakh, Mukesh Singh, is designed to familiarise aspirants with the recruitment framework while providing structured guidance for both physical and written stages of selection.
On the inaugural day, candidates were given a detailed briefing on the recruitment process, including the sequence of tests and evaluation criteria. The focus remained on the Physical Endurance Test (PET), with participants undergoing preliminary training in events such as long-distance running, long jump and push-ups for male candidates, while female aspirants were introduced to shot put, in line with prescribed standards.
Officials said the current phase of physical training will be followed by dedicated orientation sessions for the written examination, to be conducted separately for Sub-Inspector and Constable candidates.
Addressing the aspirants, Senior Superintendent of Police, Kargil, Nitin Yadav, called upon the candidates to adopt a disciplined approach to preparation and make full use of the training support being extended. He said the Ladakh Police, under the leadership of the DGP, is committed to ensuring that aspirants are adequately equipped to meet the demands of the recruitment process.
He further announced that similar orientation camps will be organised in Zanskar to facilitate participation from candidates in remote areas.
Additional Superintendent of Police, Kargil, Kacho Ishtyaq A. A. Khan, welcomed the aspirants and outlined the structure and requirements of the Physical Endurance Test, extending encouragement to participants on behalf of the department.
The initiative is being supported by Physical Education Teachers from the Youth Services and Sports Department, Kargil, who have been deployed to assist in training and supervision.
The orientation programme forms part of the police department’s outreach to streamline preparation among local youth and ensure wider participation in the upcoming recruitment drive.
