NEW DELHI, APR 21: Ladakh Lieutenant Governor met Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and reviewed major road infrastructure projects in the Union Territory, including the Zoji La tunnel, upgradation of NH-3 in Leh, the Leh bypass and pending works under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund.
According to the LG, Gadkari said the breakthrough of the Zoji La tunnel is likely by the last week of May. Once completed, the tunnel will provide year-round connectivity between Ladakh and the rest of India.
The minister also directed officials to speed up clearances for pending road and infrastructure projects and ensure time-bound completion. The projects are expected to boost connectivity, safety, tourism, trade and local employment in Ladakh.
