Condoles loss of lives, backs call for transparent probe
LEH: The Hindu Mahasabha of Ladakh has expressed profound grief over the tragic deaths of four young boys during a protest on 24 September 2025, calling the incident a ‘painful loss’ for the entire region, while calling for Hindu community representation in the influential Apex Body that is leading the region’s campaign for constitutional safeguards.
Hindu Trust (Maha Sabha) Leh, President Balbir Singh in a letter to Thupstan Chhewang Chairman, Leh Apex Body, and Chering Dorjey Lakrook, President Ladakh Buddhist Association, Leh sought representation in Leh Apex Body.
In a statement, the Mahasabha extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and affirmed solidarity with the people of Ladakh during what it described as a moment of deep communal sorrow.
The Hindu Mahasabha threw its full weight behind the APEX Body and the wider public demand for a ‘fair and transparent investigation’ into the September 24 incident, emphasising that the truth must emerge and justice be delivered to the affected families.
Reaffirming its long-standing support for Ladakh’s core demands like constitutional safeguards protection of land, jobs, culture, and demographic identity, the organisation declared that these measures are ‘crucial for safeguarding the rights of every community residing in the Union Territory.’
Reiterating its long-standing stance on autonomy, the Hindu Mahasabha also backed the ongoing push for constitutional safeguards for Ladakh. Such protections, it said, are vital for preserving the region’s unique identity, culture, and rights. The organisation emphasised unity across all communities in pursuit of these collective goals.
“We respectfully request the APEX Body to include a representative from the Hindu community as well. Since all major communities are part of the APEX Body, we feel that Hindu representation will make the Body completer and more inclusive,” Mahasabha statement read.
The Hindu Mahasabha assures full support to the APEX Body in every step taken for peace, justice, and the welfare of Ladakh, it concluded.
