Leh, Jul 14: The Union Ministry of Rural Development has allocated Rs 80 crores to the Union Territory of Ladakh and Rs 998 crores to Jammu and Kashmir under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) for the financial year 2025-26, as part of a Rs 16,647.77 crore disbursement to States and Union Territories to enhance rural road connectivity.
The Ministry’s communication to State and UT authorities notes that these indicative allocations are based on road and bridge work targets and past expenditure trends, with potential revisions depending on project progress and adherence to expenditure guidelines.
Among the States, Maharashtra received the highest allocation at Rs 1,300 crores, followed by Himachal Pradesh (Rs 1,100 crores), and Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal (Rs 1,000 crores each). Puducherry received the lowest allocation at Rs 2 crores, followed by Haryana (Rs 5 crores), and Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Manipur (Rs 20 crores each).Other allocations include Rs 600 crores each to Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Meghalaya, and Odisha; Rs 800 crores each to Assam, Jharkhand, and Rajasthan; Rs 100 crores to Gujarat; Rs 50 crores to Karnataka; Rs 300 crores to Kerala, Mizoram, and Tripura; Rs 250 crores to Madhya Pradesh; Rs 400 crores to Nagaland and Telangana; Rs 175 crores to Sikkim; Rs 346.77 crores to Punjab; and Rs 700 crores to Uttarakhand.
Similarly, a total of Rs 1000 crores have been allocated to 9 States under the Road Connectivity Project for Left Wing Extremism (LWE) Affected Areas (RCPLWEA) scheme for the year 2025-26 with the State of Jharkhand receiving maximum share of Rs 400 crores and Uttar Pradesh minimum Rs 10 crores.
As far as the indicative allocation under the PM-JANMAN or the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan scheme is concerned, Rs 1260 crores have been allocated to 10 States with Chhattisgarh receiving the highest share of Rs 520 crores and Maharashtra minimum of Rs 10 crores.
