CHANDIGARH, May 6: The blast near Amritsar’s Khasa army cantonment boundary was a low-intensity explosion, possibly orchestrated by Pakistan’s ISI to disrupt Punjab on Operation Sindoor’s anniversary, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said Wednesday.
The Tuesday night incident caused no injuries. No group has claimed responsibility.
“Punjab is fighting a proxy war against Pakistan on behalf of the nation,” Yadav said after meetings with army officials and Amritsar police.
Two blasts hit security sites Tuesday: one at 8 pm outside Jalandhar’s BSF Punjab Frontier HQ, and this at 11 pm in Khasa.
Amritsar (Rural) SSP Suhail Mir Qasim said teams responded to reports of a loud sound. Preliminary probe suggests an explosive was thrown at the boundary wall, dislodging a tin sheet.
Forensic teams, bomb squads from Punjab Police and BSF sanitised the site and collected samples. FIR registered; multi-agency probe uses human intel, tech, and forensics to nab perpetrators, Yadav added.
Opposition condemned the blasts as destabilisation attempts.
