New Delhi, March 11: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, senior leader KC Venugopal, and other key Central Election Committee (CEC) members convened a crucial Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting at 24 Akbar Road on Wednesday to deliberate party strategy for Kerala.
The high-level huddle comes as the Congress intensifies groundwork for upcoming electoral battles in the southern state, where it seeks to reclaim ground against the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the BJP’s rising challenge. Sources indicate discussions focused on candidate selections, alliance dynamics within the United Democratic Front (UDF), and countering anti-incumbency narratives.
Rahul Gandhi, who represents Wayanad in Kerala, played a central role alongside Kharge and Venugopal, emphasizing grassroots mobilization and issue-based campaigns on local concerns like price rise, unemployment, and governance lapses.
The meeting underscores Congress’s renewed push in Kerala—a traditional stronghold—following mixed results in recent bypolls and local elections. Outcomes are expected to shape the party’s campaign roadmap ahead of potential assembly polls.
