JAMMU, MAR 15: The two-day “Jammu Vishwavidyalaya Sahitya Sanskriti Samagam” wrapped up today, featuring panel discussions, lively folk performances, and robust participation from students, scholars, and civil society.
JU Vice-Chancellor Prof Umesh Rai praised Duggar’s cultural diversity, noting Jammu’s identity is forged from centuries of traditions, languages, and practices. He called for academic institutions to document and promote this heritage while integrating regional literature into curricula for global-local balance.
Panels like “Jammu Sanskriti Ki Baati: Vyapakata Dikhati,” moderated by Gulaab Safi and Arun Manhas, spotlighted luminaries such as Padma Shri Prof Shiv Nirmohi and Mohan Singh, exploring the region’s rich legacy.
A students’ elocution contest drew 43 participants, complemented by folk artists like Master Kartar Chand, Darshan Patakha, and Slathia Brothers, plus BSF Band performances.
Journalists in the valedictory session, led by Pradeep Dutta, urged youth involvement via digital platforms to preserve Jammu’s folklore and arts, capping the event with Dogra dances, music, and cuisine showcases.
