Kargil, May 21 : The proposal for construction of a Haj House in Kargil figured prominently during a meeting between newly appointed Chairman of the Haj Committee Ladakh, Ghulam Abbas Abidi, committee members from Leh and Kargil, and representatives of Jamiat-ul-Ulama Isna Asharia Kargil-Ladakh on Wednesday.
During the interaction, members of the religious body strongly urged the Haj Committee to expedite the establishment of a dedicated Haj House in Kargil to facilitate pilgrims from the district and adjoining areas. Responding to the demand, Abidi assured the gathering that necessary steps would be taken for early fulfillment of the proposal.
Participants were also informed that the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Kargil had agreed to provide land for the construction of the facility, which has long been viewed as an important infrastructural requirement for Haj pilgrims from the region.
The meeting, held in Kargil, focused on a range of issues concerning Haj affairs, including pilgrim arrangements, administrative coordination and measures aimed at improving facilities and guidance for devotees undertaking the annual pilgrimage.
The interaction was attended by General Secretary and Markazi Imam Jumma Kargil, Sheikh Ibrahim Khalili, along with members of the organisation and newly appointed representatives of the Haj Committee from both Leh and Kargil districts.
Khalili congratulated Abidi on assuming charge as Chairman of the Haj Committee Ladakh and expressed hope that the committee, under his leadership, would work towards addressing issues related to Haj management and pilgrim welfare with dedication and administrative commitment.
Those present at the meeting described the interaction as a constructive initiative aimed at strengthening coordination between the Haj Committee and religious organisations to ensure smoother arrangements for pilgrims from Ladakh in the coming years.
