JAMMU JAN 10: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Commissioner Dr Devansh Yadav conducted a comprehensive sanitation inspection across wards 50, 51, 52, 53, and 54 as part of the ongoing Swachh Republic Day campaign, covering key areas including Channi Himmat, Channi, Trikuta Nagar Extension, Basant Vihar, Nanak Nagar, and surrounding localities.
During the extensive tour, Dr Yadav thoroughly assessed the overall cleanliness status, with particular focus on roads, lanes, drains, and public spaces. He also reviewed the progress of ongoing development projects and evaluated the functionality of essential civic amenities being provided to residents in these densely populated areas.
Emphasizing the critical need to maintain exemplary hygiene standards ahead of Republic Day celebrations, the Commissioner issued strict directives to officials for ensuring regular garbage collection schedules, proper waste segregation at source, and timely cleaning of drainage systems to prevent waterlogging and potential health hazards during the winter season.
In a parallel enforcement drive under the campaign, JMC teams removed illegal encroachments and unauthorized vending stalls that were obstructing footpaths and roadways. These actions aimed to reclaim public spaces, restore pedestrian walkways, and ensure smooth vehicular movement across the inspected wards.
Dr Yadav instructed enforcement teams to maintain heightened vigilance and adopt a zero-tolerance approach against repeat offenders, warning that violations would attract stringent penalties to deter future encroachments.

Appealing directly to residents for their cooperation, the JMC Commissioner urged citizens to adopt responsible waste disposal practices, refrain from creating encroachments, and actively participate in making Jammu cleaner and more organized. He reaffirmed JMC’s commitment to transforming the city into a model of cleanliness, better urban planning, and citizen-friendly governance ahead of the Republic Day celebrations.
