Srinagar, Feb 12: The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) on Thursday appealed to J&K and Rajasthan Chief Ministers to protect the academic futures of 33 Kashmiri students suspended at Mewar University, Chittorgarh, for protesting an unapproved B.Sc. Nursing course.
JKSA National Convenor Nasir Khuehami highlighted that the course lacks Rajasthan Nursing Council (RNC) and Indian Nursing Council (INC) approvals, jeopardizing degrees, registration, and jobs for over 50 Kashmiri enrollees. Despite university assurances—including a registrar’s written promise last year—no progress has occurred.
Faced with uncertainty, students held a peaceful protest. Instead of resolving issues, the administration suspended 33, which JKSA called punitive silencing of valid concerns.
JKSA urged CM Omar Abdullah to raise the matter with Rajasthan authorities for student continuity, and Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma to intervene swiftly. “These students cannot be left in limbo—their future must be safeguarded urgently,” Khuehami said.
