JAMMU DEC 06: JKPSC on Saturday reaffirmed that the Jammu & Kashmir Administrative Services (JKAS) Preliminary Examination will go ahead on December 7, turning down mounting pleas from candidates and political leaders for a postponement.
Commission chairman Arun Kumar Choudhary said the test “will be conducted as per schedule”, even as a parallel debate raged over age relaxation and severe travel disruptions affecting aspirants.
Earlier in the day, the Lieutenant Governor’s office issued a public clarification, terming circulating posts about the exam “misleading” and asserting that the age‑relaxation file was received and returned on December 2 with queries and no subsequent response for four days.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had pressed for a short deferment, arguing that flight chaos, winter hardship and the unresolved age‑relaxation issue had created “unprecedented mental and logistical pressure” on candidates, and that a brief delay was necessary to preserve a sense of fairness in the recruitment process.
