J&K UTLBC holds Mega Facilitation Camps in 4 districts to help public reclaim unclaimed financial assets

Srinagar, Dec 12: Taking forward the nationwide campaign “Apki Poonji, Apka Adhikar – Your Money, Your Right”, J&K UTLBC today conducted Mega Financial Facilitation Camps in the districts of Pulwama, Baramulla, Budgam and Bandipora to help people identify, verify and reclaim their unclaimed bank deposits, dormant insurance amounts, inactive mutual funds, unclaimed shares, dividends and other long-pending financial assets.
The camps are part of the campaign launched by the Department of Financial Services under the Finance Ministry, in coordination with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), and the Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA) under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
The outreach camps witnessed encouraging public participation including public representatives while bringing together officials from district administration and all other stakeholders.
Pulwama Camp
The Mega Financial Facilitation Camp was organized by the Lead District Office Pulwama at the Auditorium of Government Boys Degree College, drawing a good response from residents seeking support in tracing and reclaiming their unclaimed financial assets.
The camp witnessed participation from people across diverse sections of society, besides the presence of public representatives including MLA Pulwama Waheed Ur Rehman Parra, MLA Tral Rafiq Ahmed Naik, DDC Chairman Syed Abdul Bari Andrabi, J&K Bank Zonal Head Irfan Anjum, RBI Lead District Officer, DDM NABARD, J&K Bank Cluster Head, and officials from various Government Departments, financial institutions, and insurance companies.
Awareness sessions featuring PowerPoint presentations and short informational videos were held to guide citizens in locating forgotten or inherited financial holdings.
Welcoming the initiative, the dignitaries appreciated the effort as “an important step towards ensuring that citizens reclaim what rightfully belongs to them.”
Speaking on the occasion, J&K Bank Zonal Head Irfan Anjum said, “Our teams are committed to assisting the public in retrieving unclaimed deposits and ensuring timely settlement through simplified procedures.”
Pertinently, Pulwama district alone has 70195 unclaimed accounts worth Rs 16.98 crore. During the camp, on-the-spot settlement was facilitated, with ten claimants receiving cheques amounting to Rs 7.52 lakh against their unclaimed deposits.
Baramulla Camp
The Lead Bank Office, Baramulla organized a Mega District-Level Facilitation Camp at the Conference Hall, DC Office. Held in collaboration with the district administration and participating banks, the event drew large number of citizens seeking assistance in tracing and settling their unclaimed financial assets regulated by institutions such as RBI, IRDAI, and PFRDA. District Baramulla accounts for 126840 unclaimed accounts amounting to Rs 24.20 crores.
The camp also witnessed the participation of MLA Baramulla Irfan Hafeez Lone, Additional DC (Baramulla) Altaf Hussain Musvi, and RBI Lead District Officer, DDM NABARD, district heads of banks, NBFCs, insurance companies, and representative of SEBI.
The dignitaries appreciated the initiative while acknowledging its importance in helping citizens reclaim long-pending financial dues through a streamlined and accessible process.
During the camp, a significant number of claims were successfully settled on the spot. J&K Bank processed 43 cases amounting to Rs 14.58 lakh, JK Grameen Bank settled 64 cases totalling Rs 3.05 lakh, while SBI concluded 5 cases with a settlement value of Rs 9.56 lakh.

Budgam Camp
The Lead Bank Office, Budgam, in collaboration with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Jammu and various financial institutions, today organized a Mega Facilitation Camp at the Shaikh-ul-Aalam Hall near the DC Office, Budgam.
The camp witnessed good public participation, reflecting growing awareness among residents about unclaimed deposits and their financial rights. Senior officials from district-level banks and financial institutions facilitated on-spot services, helping citizens trace and settle long-pending or dormant accounts. Notably, District Budgam has 89070 unclaimed accounts worth Rs 20.15 crores.
Additional DC (Budgam) Mehraj Uddin, chaired the event as the Chief Guest and handed over cheques amounting to Rs 2.50 lakh to beneficiaries whose claims were successfully settled during the camp—underscoring the administration’s commitment to ensuring transparent and timely delivery of financial entitlements.
Addressing the gathering, Manager RBI (Jammu) Amandeep Singh underscored the importance of financial awareness, regular account upkeep, and adoption of digital tools to prevent accounts from becoming inoperative.
He highlighted the role of the UDGAM Portal—an RBI and Government of India initiative—which provides citizens a centralized platform to search, trace, and reclaim unclaimed deposits across multiple banks.
LDM (Budgam) Mohd Muzaffar urged the public to keep their KYC details updated, link mobile numbers with their accounts, and remain informed about their financial holdings to avoid account dormancy in future.
Bandipora Camp
The Lead Bank Office, Bandipora today conducted a Mega Facilitation Camp at the Conference Hall of the Mini Secretariat that witnessed encouraging public participation along with the presence of senior officials from all major banks, including RBI’s Lead District Officer, J&K Bank’s Cluster Head, Regional Head of J&K Grameen Bank, and representatives from the district administration.
During the programme, the LDO RBI sensitized participants about the Depositor Education and Awareness (DEA) Fund and outlined the procedure for claiming unclaimed deposits. This was followed by an awareness session by J&K Bank’s Cluster Head, who highlighted the Bank’s outreach efforts and the strategies adopted to trace and assist eligible beneficiaries.
Lead District Manager Bandipora further briefed the attendees about the objectives of the camp and encouraged members of the public to come forward with their queries and concerns.
Pertinently, Bandipora district has 37040 unclaimed accounts worth Rs 7.11 crore. Meanwhile, today’s camp facilitated the settlement of nine (9) claims amounting to Rs 17.48 lakh, including Rs 16.72 lakh settled by J&K Bank and Rs 0.76 lakh by J&K Grameen Bank. Cheques were handed over to the beneficiaries by Chief Planning Officer Mohd Maqbool during the event.
On the occasion, beneficiaries also shared their experiences, expressing gratitude for the proactive support extended by J&K Bank officials in guiding them through the claim process.
