Srinagar, Jan 27: The Jammu and Kashmir government suspended five Public Works (R&B) Department officials for delaying snow clearance operations and unauthorized absence from duty during the ongoing winter precipitation.
The action followed Deputy Chief Minister’s January 25 visit to Srinagar’s Integrated Command & Control Centre, where Assistant Engineer Sandeep Vaishnavi was found absent. Elected representatives from Shopian, Anantnag, Imam Sahib, Tangmarg, Zainapora and other areas complained about poor performance disrupting road connectivity and essential services.
The suspended officials include Er. Noor Din (AEE), Er. Shabir Ahmad Ganie (AEE), Er. Nasir (AE), Er. Sandeep Vaishnavi (AE, PM Package), and Er. Ramiz (JE) from South Kashmir and Srinagar divisions. Their duties have been reassigned, with Chief Engineers directed to initiate departmental proceedings.
