JAMMU, Mar 26: The State Election Commission of Jammu and Kashmir has announced the annual revision of the Panchayat Electoral Roll, with April 1, 2026, fixed as the qualifying date. As per Sub‑Rule 4 of Rule 4 of the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Rules, 1996, the roll will be prepared in line with the provisions of the J&K Panchayati Raj Act, 1989, and the procedure laid down by the Election Authority.
A communique issued by the J&K State Election Commission stated that the revision process will be based on the last updated Electoral Roll, with the names already included in it serving as the foundation for the new roll. Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) will publish the last updated integrated electoral roll in each Halqa Panchayat on March 27, 2026, along with a notice in Form PER‑1.
The draft Panchayat Electoral Roll‑2026 will be open for revision from March 27, 2026, inviting claims and objections on additions, deletions, corrections and transpositions from eligible voters. The window for filing claims and objections will remain open from March 27 to April 29, 2026.
To facilitate the process, special camps will be held at polling booth locations on April 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26, 2026, where Panchayat Election Booth Officials and Assembly Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will remain present with the required forms and draft rolls. Eligible voters can seek assistance from the District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO), Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) or Panchayat Election Booth Official (PEBO), whose details are available at the respective DPEO offices as well as on the official website secjk.nic.in.
The communique added that disposal of all claims and objections will be completed by the ERO by May 8, 2026, while the final Panchayat Electoral Roll‑2026 will be published on May 15, 2026.
